Ensuring Interoperable, Real-time Group Communications for Federal Government Agencies

In spite of the number of distinct agencies, each with a unique mission, which make up the United States federal government, the federal government as a whole faces a clear set of fundamental challenges. Among the most important is ensuring security - from the country's borders to public buildings, and everything that falls in between. Also essential are delivering the critical services citizens require and improving coordination between agencies. Plus, the federal government must do this while enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness - and with an eye on the bottom line. Key to addressing these challenges: enabling secure, real-time group communications.

WAVE® is a software application suite that manages secure, real-time group communications over the IP network, enabling interoperable communications between any connected devices, operating at any frequency.

With WAVE, federal government agencies can benefit from secure, interoperable, affordable, and survivable communications over any audio source - including two-way radios, phones, PCs, and connected PDAs. This means that the communications systems of multiple agencies can be integrated as needed - to manage communications for both day-to-day activities and in crisis situations.

In addition, because WAVE is open, standards-based software, government agencies will see a return on their existing assets, while benefiting from inherent choice and flexibility. Plus since WAVE enables agencies to deploy flexible systems on the existing data network using Voice over IP, they can also realize significant savings on recurring costs while improving reliability and audio quality.

WAVE was designed to meet the survivability and security requirements of today's government organizations. Failover and headless peer-to-peer operations help keep users connected - from the central site to regional centers to remote locations. In a crisis, WAVE's modest hardware requirements and flexible connections let the entire network migrate to a remote facility, and WAVE can perform emergency notification alerts, delivering simultaneous messages over phone and network connections.

Importantly, WAVE has undergone rigorous testing to ensure dependability under extreme conditions. WAVE meets U.S. Department of Homeland Security requirements for interoperability and integration, and is used worldwide by critical facilities, public safety, and defense agencies with the most stringent security requirements.
