Twisted Pair Solutions Helps Royal Australian Air Force Implement Strong Interoperable Communications

Seattle, Washington, USA – September 30, 2008 – Twisted Pair Solutions (www.twistpair.com), a pioneer in unified communications software built to open standards, today announced the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) will be implementing the company’s WAVE® software as part of its Project Air 5333 Vigilare project. The project includes the implementation of two new ground-based air defense command, control and communications systems at RAAF Base Tindal (Northern Territory) and RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW.  WAVE software will enable the RAAF to join incompatible communications equipment together in a single, fully interoperable system to ensure the seamless transfer of information among disparate groups and individuals.

The Vigilare project is being led by prime contractor Boeing Australia Limited and was established by the Commonwealth of Australia to implement an Air Defense Ground Environment (ADGE) system for the RAAF. The Vigilare system will support wide area surveillance, air battle management and training, and will provide the organization with a single, integrated air defense system that joins previously disparate systems.

“WAVE was specifically designed for the stringent, mission-critical communications requirements of military and other defense organizations,” said Tom Guthrie, President and CEO at Twisted Pair Solutions. “This high caliber of quality has led to WAVE being the most widely deployed interoperable communications solution in the world. We’re honored to be the go-to solution for mission critical organizations that need a battle-tested, flexible and highly scalable solution.”

The Vigilare system includes data processing and voice communications software and hardware installed in two Regional Operations Centers (ROCs). Upon completion, the project will make RAAF’s voice communications assets accessible at multiple sites across Australia. WAVE software is being deployed by Twisted Pair’s partner CISTECH Solutions (www.cistechsolutions.com.au) and will enable RAAF’s disparate communications systems such as radios, traditional analog phone systems, and IP phone systems to all interoperate seamlessly. Leveraging the WAVE SDK, CISTECH designed a user interface optimized specifically for the needs and preferences of RAAF members.

“WAVE enables organizations to tackle communications incompatibility issues of the largest scale,” said Guy Watson, Managing Director at CISTECH. “This compelling approach helps organizations optimize their communications infrastructures in the fastest manner possible and with minimal expenditure. We’re excited to be working with Twisted Pair to help the RAAF and other mission critical organizations meet their increasing demands in communications performance.”

WAVE is the industry’s only software- and SDK-optimized interoperable communications solution. Using standard IP networks as the unifying medium, WAVE enables a multitude of traditionally disparate communications systems such as radios, traditional analog phone systems, new IP phone systems, PCs, PDAs and industry-specific proprietary devices to all interoperate seamlessly. Trusted by governments, defense departments, public safety organizations and large commercial organizations across the globe, WAVE powers many of the industry's most advanced VoIP applications.
